In 2008, the general retail sector, excluding direct marketing or the sales through specialised retailers,  had grown to more than  600 million Euros. It is generally assumed that the retail sector covers 80 to 90 percent of all organic sales in the country.

Compared to the previous year the genreal retail sector had grown from 3.6 (2007) to 4.6 billion Danish Crowns in 2008 (1 Danish Crown = 0.13 Euros, May 2009), an increase of almost 30 percent.

In 2007, Denmark had  a turnover with organic products of almost 600 million Euros, and it was the country with the highest per capita consumption in Europe (and probably in the world, see graphs at Organic-World.Net).

A very detailed statistics on the retail sales by products is available at the Statistics Denmark homepage.
