Denmark: 10 percent increase of organic land in 2008

In Denmark the organically managed land went up by 10 percent during 2008. Currently more than 160'000 hectares or six percent of the country's agricultural land are organic.

Most of the land is fully converted, 20'000 hectares are under conversion. The in-conversion area grew by 90 percent - an indicator of the current dynamic of Danish organic farming.

The number of organic producers, however, decreased. There were 2751 producers in 2008 compared to 2835 in 2007.
