Call for papers: Organic conference in Tbilisi, Georgia

The '2nd International Conference on the Organic Sector Development in Central/Eastern Europe and Central Asian Countries' will take place in Tbilisi on September 10 and 11, 2009. Papers can be sumitted by June 25, 2009.

The goals of the conference are to explore the development of the organic sector in the different countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, to communicate practical experiences and research results, to exchange experiences, and to support the organic industry at times of economic crisis.

Papers are invited on the following issues

  • Plant production
  • Animal production
  • Grape production and wine making
  • Wild collection
  • Horticulture
  • Manufacturing of organic products
  • New EU Regulation and organic certification issues
  • Development of the organic domestic market
  • Export markets

Presentations are invited on the aforementioned sessions and topics. It is hoped to receive a full range of proposals from various countries, from the public as well as the private sector. Practical experiences are strongly encouraged from those having a good developed organic sector as well as from those just starting with organic.

Organisers of the conference are the organic association Elkana, the agricultural faculty in Tbilisi, the Organic Federation of Ukraine and Organic Services, Munich. The conference is supported by IFOAM.
