This website supports the global data collection on organic agriculture carried out by FiBL and IFOAM, the results of which are annually published in the yearbook The World of Organic Agriculture.

The site www.organic-world.net is maintained by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL, funded under a project of the International Trade Centre ITC and the Swiss State Secretariat of Economic Affairs SECO.

The site contains data sets and informs about data revisions and corrigenda  if needed. Furthermore if offers additional material like graphs, and links related to global developments in organic farming.

SECO ITC project

Since 2008 the data collection activities have been supported under a project of the International Trade Centre ITC and the Swiss State Secretariat of Economic Affairs SECO. Under this project  the following activities are funded:

  • Building of a web based data collection tool (to be finalized in spring 2009)
  • Complete redesign of the www.organic-world.net homepage (as a tool for the web based data collection, to provide the statistical material and graphs as well as backgound information (to be finalized in the spring of 2009)
  • Data collection and processing
  • Overview of data availability world-wide
  • Dissemination activities

About the data collection on organic farming world-wide

FiBL and IFOAM 2009

The global survey on organic farming is currently carried out by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL and the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements IFOAM. Numerous experts from almost 140 countries are contributing to the data collection.

Since 2008 the data collection activities have been supported under a project of the International Trade Centre ITC and the Swiss State Secretariat of Economic Affairs SECO.

NürnbergMesse, the organisers of BioFach Fair, have supported thie survey and the yearbook since 2000. Since 2000 the latest global organic figures have been presented annually at the BioFach Fair in Nuremberg, of which IFOAM is the patron.

About the yearbook 'The World of Organic Agriculture'

The World of Organic Agriculture 2009

The yearbook 'The World Organic Agriculture' is a joint project of the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM). The yearbook, apart from the statistics collected in the frame of the global organic survey, documents recent developments and trends in global organic farming.

Numerous experts on organic farming contribute to this global yearbook

NürnbergMesse, the organisers of BioFach Fair, has financially supported this yearbook and the data collection since 2000. Since 2008, the data compilation published in the book, has been financially supported by the International Trade Centre ITC and the Swiss State Secretariat of Economic Affairs SECO.
