December 2-4, 2013: Asia-Pacific Symposium Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Organic Farming in Bangkok, Thailand

Call for papers

 

Organized by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), this symposium will address the varied and successful strategies adopted by organic farming entrepreneurs to ensure their long-term competitiveness. The call for abstracts is now open.

 Day by day, organic farmers devise and develop creative approaches to channel their produce from field to plate. This involves implementing multifaceted farming strategies, generating a greater understanding of organic agriculture, and safeguarding the right to healthy food in sufficient quantities. In a series of presentations and workshops complemented by a field trip, this symposium will show entrepreneurship, innovation, and food security strategies in action.
 
Abstracts can be submitted by August 23rd, 2013 on the following:
 
Farming Strategies

  • Crop and livestock production systems, yield and productivity
  • Multiple benefits of organic farming
  • Nutrition

Direct Marketing Solutions & Finance

  • Agricultural finance & investment
  • Short-chain markets and customer relationship

Extension & Education

  • Agricultural knowledge management
  • Consumer’s education and training

Upon confirmation of the selection of the abstract, participants will be asked to submit a full paper. For a limited number of outstanding papers, a lump sum contribution of 3'000 USD per presentation is available.
