September 16, 2010: Inspiration for Living Change: International Conference Brings Together Laureates and Participants in Workshops

The conference 'Inspiration for Living Change' (www.ifoam.org/livingchange), organized by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and Colabora, will take place at the Gustav-Stresemann-Institut in Bonn on the 16th of September 2010.

IFOAM and Colabora offer participants the opportunity to meet, face-to-face, 12 pioneers and initiators of important social movements from across the world.

Alternative Nobel Prize Laureates participating in this event are Vandana Shiva (India), Percy & Louise Schmeiser (Canada), Ibrahim & Helmy Abouleish (SEKEM, Egypt), Frances Moore Lappé (USA), Taeko Ogiwara & Ikuko Sasaki (Seikatsu Club Consumers Cooperative Union, Japan), Melaku Worede (Ethiopia), Maria Salete Campigotto (Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais sem Terra, Brazil) and Pat Mooney (Canada). Hans Herren, World Food Prize Laureate, and many other public figures that fight for a sustainable future, will also participate in the sessions. The thematic foci of the conference will be:

  1. Food Policies for Food Security and the Potential of Eco-Intensification
  2. The Political Agenda for the Paradigm Shift
  3. Organic Agriculture - the way ahead towards Sustainable Food Production
  4. Biodiversity versus Monotony
  5. From Genetic Engineering to Nanotechnology - How to Combat Paramount Threats

The full-day, bilingual (German/ English) event will be broadcast via podcast into all 5 continents. This conference is organized in partnership with the Avalon Foundation, BioFach, Biovision, Hivos, MISEREOR and the Vermögensakademie.
