Danish organic market grows by 6.1 percent in 2014

Acording to the latest data released by statistics Denmark, the organic market is now at 830 Million euros. This figure includes the general retailers (supermarkets and grocery stores), but it does not take into account direct Marketing or specialized organic shops.

Compared with 2013, sales have incresed by 6.1 percent. The share of the total market is now 7.6 %.

It should be noted that the market shares have been revised by Statistics Denmark, due to the fact that a survey retail sales of food is done only every five years, causing the Revision the market share data.

According to these revised data, the share developed as follows (see also graph):

  • 2009: 6.4 %
  • 2010: 6.6 %
  • 2011: 6.9 %
  • 2012: 6.9 %
  • 2013: 7.2 %
  • 2014: 7.6 %
