At the end of 2008, there were 19'813 organic holdings in Germany farming 907'786 hectares of land in accordance with the EC legislation governing organic farming. They account for five percent of all holdings, farming around 5.4 percent of the total utilised agricultural area.
The report at the Ministry's Homepage aims to give a brief overview of organic farming in Germany. It presents the rules, organic farming associations as well as the development and support of organic farms.
