Dossier "European Innovation Partnership - Opportunities for Innovation in Organic Farming and Agroecology"

The European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability, or EIP-AGRI, is a new policy instrument for more stakeholder and demand-driven research & innovation in agriculture. It contains several elements that are supportive of organic farming and agroecological innovation. The new dossier, published by the European Union Group of the Interantional Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM EU) and the European Technology Platform for Organic Food and Farming Research (TP Organics), explains the EIP-AGRI.

This dossier is there to help the organic sector and the agroecological community understand the implementation of the EIP-AGRI. It gives an overview of this new instrument and explains the concepts behind the new approach to innovation. The dossier addresses the importance of the work that has  to be done by the rural development programmes at the national or regional levels, after explaining the EIP-AGRI activities at EU level.

The dossier also introduces a number of interesting initiatives in the Member States and an overview of the wide range of innovations with which the organic sector can contribute to the EIP-AGRI.

The dossier received the support of EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, who expressed his hope that "the organic sector will continue its strong involvement in the EIP-AGRI and help make it a success".
