So far, only few countries have statistics on their organic imports. FiBL is receiving many enquiries on this issue and therefore we have compiled an overview of available country statistics of which we know. Comprehensive overviews are not available, apart from the study of Hamm and Gronegeld, published in 2004. Should you have additions to this list, please let us know.

Denmark

Denmark is probably the country in the world which has the most detailed market and trade data on organic agriculture. At the homepage of Statistics Denmark official data on the domestic market (only retail though), export and import are available by value.

Overview study from 2004

In 2004 the revised and updated analysis of the European Market for Organic Food by U. Hamm, F. Gronefeld was published. This book contains import statistics, based on a survey carried out in the framework of the European funded OMIARD project. These data are very comprehensive, but now outdated.
