About the questionnaire

In the framework of the project on data collection worldwide, funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), FiBL has developed an extensive questionnaire for the data collection.

The questionnaire was programmed by flexinfo (www.flexinfo.ch).

  • As far as possible, the questionnaire on primary crops / land use has been brought in line with the questionnaire developed by Eurostat for their data collection on organic farming. However, it includes also subtropical and tropical crops, which the Eurostat qustionnaire does not include. Eurostat is the statistical office of the European Union and collects the areaa, livestock, prodcution, and operator data among its member states and further countries.
  • The questionnaire on animal husbandry as well as on operators  is the same as the one used by Eurostat.
  • The questionnaire on retail sales and international trade data was developed by the Agricultural Information Company (AMI), Bonn,  Germany, and the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL); in the framwork of the European funded OrganicDatanetwork project (www.organicdatanetwork.net). It is based on the Statistical Classification of Products by Activity in the European Economic Community, 2008 version.
